Top Ways To Get Your Kids Active (Ages 3 To 4)

Here are some interesting and fun ways to make your child go out and do some healthy physical activities.

Go outdoors!

It may be very easy and convenient for you to push your toddler in a car seat or stroller but by immobilizing the toddler, you are naturally making them lazy and inactive. The best way to make your toddler active and get into exercising is to take them outside. Make them run, climb, skip and hop when you are outdoors. Scout outside in a safe place and take your child along with their balls and cycle and supervise them in their activities. Play games where you have to chase them, play hide and seek or play catch with the ball. In short, always keep them on the run and active while you are outside.

If you are bored with playing in a park, field or ground then take your child towards the beach. Play in sand with them or chase them in the water.

Shake, rattle, and roll!

If the conditions occur that it is impossible to go out, such as it is raining or your baby is sick or your baby is throwing tantrums then it is time to have some fun indoors. Play some music and get dancing. Anything with the basic beat would do the trick. In this way, you both will have a change and blow off some steam while staying inside the house.

Exercise together!

You know that toddlers at the age of 3 or 4 imitate everything you do.  The way you talk or do things leave an impact on your child and they tend to do the same. Same goes for exercise. Take care of your child’s fitness and activity level and spend some spare time working out together. Do yoga stretches or practice a dance routine with your child or follow a video workout.

Keep the family outings active such as go out at a swimming pool or water park or flying kites in a park instead of going on long drives.

Bring their friends!

Having your child’s friends around is a great way to keep your child active. This encourages them to go out and play.  Invite their friends to a pool party or take them for bike riding. Consider inviting their friend's parents if you are buddies with them and you all can go to a park together where you all can sit and chat and also keep a watchful eye on your kids while they play.

Look for classes!

At the age of 3 or 4, you can enroll your toddler in a swimming class, gymnastics, karate or music class. Make sure you do not over schedule your kid. You need to keep a check on your kids’ temperament and daily routine. The core focus should be on fitness along with fun. You don’t want to pressure the kid into excel at athletics and sports at this young age. Always go for a week trial before entering your child in the scheduled classes so that you know they can take it and don’t get exhausted from the extracurricular activities.
