Superfoods for Kids & Toddlers


During the conversations about food and health, the word superfood is frequently tossed. However, there aren’t any standards set for what makes a food superfood, but the term is generally related to food which is high in minerals and vitamins. Families usually incorporate such foods into their daily routines but are unaware of it.  You must add various superfoods in the daily routine of your child so they can reap health benefits. Here are some of the food suggestions that can make eating healthy and happy for the child.

Salmon

Salmon is high in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential fats for the development of your little one. Omega-3s are most absorbed into the body when taken from fish and seafood. Salmon is low in saturated fat like red meat. Using grilled salmon as a substitute for chicken in tacos or burritos is also a great way to incorporate fish into kid’s meal.

Blueberries

Blueberries and other berries including strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries are full of nutrients such as vitamin C and manganese. Vitamin C is essential for the tissue growth and development as well as wound healing. Manganese helps with connective tissue, bone structure, and clotting factors.

Fresh blueberries can be a great snack for kids and toddlers as they’re small, sweet and ready-to-eat! In the summer, all-natural berry popsicles are a tasty way to beat the heat. During the off-season, you can buy frozen blueberries and your kid can enjoy the fresh flavor while reaping the nutritional benefits. Add it in kid’s oatmeal or smoothies for a purple taste!

Eggs

Eggs are a powerful source for protein packet meal. However, its smell tops the list of food smells hated by pregnant women. Rich in vitamin B and D, eggs are highly nutritious in health for your little one and toddlers. You can try giving eggs to your kids in different varieties such as a scrambled egg, boiled egg, vegetable omelets or pan fried.

Nuts

Nuts are a popular full of protein super food. Kids who have food allergies, peanuts can be a concern. Almonds and cashews are the best substitutes for the peanut-free snack. Also, sunflower seed butter gives a similar flavor and texture.                

You can add your own ingredients if you want to make your own nut butter with roasted peanuts, almonds and sunflower seeds.    

For the growth and development of heart and vision of your little one, you must add superfood in your little one's diet.  Incorporate these meals into your kid’s meals and snacks and ensure a healthy, nutritious and balanced development.
